Gold Wire Sculptures

Most of the models produced from 1979 to 1986 were created in gold wire. This first solid body model was not produced until 1983. Interestingly, it was not a model of a car but the Suzuki motorcyle pictured below.

Golden Awards & Trophies

From 1983 through 1986 Dominos Pizza sponsored the awards for the CART Pocono 500 race and the CART Triple Crown (an accumulation of results from the Indy 500, Michigan 500 and Pocono 500 races). The Triple Crown winner was presented a gold wire Indy Car model while the Pocono race winner received a silver wire Indy Car model.

Limited Edition Bronze Castings

From 1991 through 1994, Goodyear presented a bronze award to the winners of the Indy 500 race. Mike Dunlap was commissioned to produce an edition of 5 pieces -- only 4 were known to have been presented.
